I've argued similar thoughts to yours before, so I'm not disagreeing, but
what of the success of the Irish socialists in the last election, clearly
it's important at least getting a united left-alternative on the ballot box.
 The base for a left-alternative would obviously have to be the unions still
in labor, left-labor voters, greens, socialists, minorities, etc.  I hardly
think they would get only 1 percent of the vote.
