This is a bigger deal in the US where so many people rely on their
partner's healthcare or other employer-provided benefits; while
certain employers willingly extend these to LGBT partners it is not
required as it is with a marriage mate. Of course, David is right that
we should be (and are) fighting for healthcare, etc for ALL regardless
of relationship status at the same time so that marriage will not be
so important from a merely material point of view.
