Re: [Marxism] Israel's Growing Internal Divide

It is interesting to interpret this poll in terms of the Master-slave
dialectic. The slave desires forgiveness from the master and mutual
reconciliation. Hence the high percentage of "Israelis Arabs" who display
what the West would call "moderate" views.

There was a similar poll result in N./ Ireland way back in the 60s before
the rise of the "Troubles". In that poll too the Catholics wanted closer
contact with the Protestant majority. But the latter were always of a mind
that the Catholics were the essential enemy of the "Protestant parliament
for a Protestant People" and constantly rebuffed overtures from Catholics.
The result was their near destruction. It was in truth impossible to unite
Protestants and Catholics within Northern Ireland because the state was
created on the basis of the irreconcilability and enmity of Protestants and
Catholics throughout Ireland.

Similarly with Israel. It is impossible to unite Arabs and Zionists in
Israel, because Israel was created on the premise of the ethnic cleansing of
Arabs and the appropriation of their land and assets. So the Arab is the
essential enemy to the Zionist. It matters not then that a large percentage
of Israeli Arabs want peace with the Israelis. The Israelis cannot grant
full rights to their Arab citizens and maintain the "Jewish State". So the
seeds of the their own down fall are there. Only another massive round of
ethnic cleansing on the sale of 1948 can relieve the growing pressure. And
such a "transfer" as the Israelis like to call it is just not politically
acceptable at present.

So iinexorably the Israelis are forced to watch the demographic data that
shows that the Arab community is growing. Just so In Northern Ireland the
Protestant government kept a paranoid eye on the Catholic birth rate
BTW the founders of Israel never dreamed of founding a "democratic state".
What has unfolded is according to the logic of Zionism which was a colonial
dream hatched at the height of colonialism in the 19th century and given
expression in the 20th Century just before the true flourishing of
anti-colonialism of the 1950s.
