Before Pio Nono decreed papal infallibility, the "ideological edifice"
had held up just fine for some 1500 years. And it's current collapse
would be retatded, not hastened, were some Vatican III to reverse Pio
Nono's dogma.
But how well would the Fidelista "ideological edifice" withstand an
admission that, even for opportunistic reasons, Fidel had taken a
counterrevolutionary action in endorsing the Stalinist suppression of
the Prague Spring--and that the suppression for more than 40 years
even of any critical discussion of this betrayal was and is itself a
Stalinist blot on the Cuban Revolution?
