[Marxism] Nepal Updates: Caretaker Prime Minister Rails against Intervention by Foreign Power (aka India)

[QuoteThe outgoing Prime Minister claimed that he was aware of the President's
move two weeks beforehand, as the move was being devised "somewhere else".He
also accused the parties of being guided by foreign powers in the entire
development since the onset of the army chief row."They [parties] are not doing
this on their own. Attempts are being made to snatch away the right of Nepali
people to self-decision," he said, claiming that the parties were involved in
all sorts of nefarious practices to secure a simple majority to form the new
government.Unquote
Compare this with what he, Prachanda (the Fierce one), had said to a leading
daily from India just about a week back:QuoteWell, we expected that India would
take a consistent position in favour of civilian supremacy because of its own
traditions and because it had supported the struggle for democracy here. In
fact, I want to make it clear that before taking any action against Katawal, I
told the Indian Ambassador, Rakesh Sood, that if it is possible, could you
please send a message that I want to have a serious discussion on this issue
and if either the foreign secretary or some other senior person can come here
to talk. We knew some confusion is there between the Maoist-led government and
India on this question. I wanted to settle this issue through interaction and
discussion with high-level officials from Delhi. But unfortunately, the
ambassador informed me that this cannot happen now because the election
campaign is going on, that nobody is there,
that it is very difficult.Unquote(The interview is available at

What a somersault!
Anyway, despite all the sharp rhetoric, the operative part appears to
be:QuoteDahal said the Maoist party would not backtrack from the peace process
despite being provoked to do so. "We will fight peacefully to make sure that
the new constitution is drafted and peace process concluded," he said.

Dahal accuses parties of trying to wreck peace process; dubs bid for new govt
as a foreign-orchestrated move
Caretaker Prime Minister and Maoist chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has accused the
UML-led new coalition of trying to derail the peace process, insisting that the
parties are being 'remote-controlled' as they engage in homework to form the
new government."On the surface it looks like an attempt to bring down the
Maoist-led government, but their intention is to disrupt the peace process.
They want to push the country into disarray," Dahal said, addressing a mass
meeting organised by his party at Kathmandu's Khula Manch on Sunday. The mass
meeting preceded by protest rallies across the town was part of the protest
against the President's order to reinstate the army chief sacked by the
government.Dahal said the Maoist party would not backtrack from the peace
