Three key points I made here:

1) Although they have now announced they are appealing the court decision, 
Obama said no such thing. He could have simply said, we think the court made 
the wrong decision about releasing the photos and we are appealing. Instead he 
said "we aren't going to release the photos," bringing him dangerously close to 
the "President is above the law" position. We shall see what happens when and 
if the Supreme Court rules he has to release the photos.

2) Obama EXPLICITLY endorsed the "just a few bad apples" "theory" in his 
announcement, by saying actions had been "carried out in the past by a small 
number of individuals" and that "appropriate actions have been taken." 
Evidently he thinks it was Lynddie England single-handedly who murdered those 
100 people in captivity, waterboarded Khalid Sheikh Muhammed and others, etc.

3) Obama says he's doing this to not "put our troops in greater danger." I 
think we all know there's a very simple solution to that, and Obama is going in 
precisely the opposite direction.
