Re: [Marxism] Mao Tse-Tung Mickey Mouse song (was: something or other about porn)

The basic author of this parody of the Mickey Mouse Club theme song was
Robin Maisel, a revolutionary who is still a strong supporter of the
US-Socialist Workers Party as he deals with the later stages of multiple
sclerosis.

A great man, in my opinion.

The origin was joint, however, like much that I and Robin did in those
years. The original idea of parodying the Mickey Mouse Club theme to parody
the Mao cult was mine. I am not competing here. It just was.

My idea originally, using my limited imagination, was simply to use the old
spelling of Mao's name to stress the cultist character of Maoism, using
basically the same lines as the original except for replacing Mickey with
Mao at each point. So the critique of cultism came through in the sinister
intonation I gave to lines like "Who's the leader of the club that's made
for you and me?" and "Why? Because we LIKE you!"

Robin rewrote the thing as a satire on Maoist politics, including cultism,
in which form it caught on and became part of the culture of our corner of
the movement.

However the last line of Robin's version was not "bloc with the
bourgeoisie," but "and join the jamboree". For Robin, bloc with the
bourgeoisie was covered by the reference to "bloc the four classes." He saw
no need to repeat the point at the end.
