"For some reason, contrary to the practice in the rest of the country, the 
election authorities in Mumbai decided to ink, not the index finger, but the 
middle finger. As a result, when all the politicians, officials, and 
Bollywood stars displayed for the press the fact that they had voted (as 
proof of their faith in the system), they did so by sticking out their 
middle fingers."
