Of course the reality is that all languages do that. But since, a far as
I know English has a larger number of words (many taken directly from
other languages of course), if anything, other languages may do it even
more! It's just one of the living aspects of language, although I do
sympathise with Nestor as trying to keep up when it isn't your first
language is a mare (nightmare for those who don't realise!).

On a related subject, a family friend who came to New Zealand from
Vietnam during the war, and had to leave because the NZ government was
going to deport him to life/death in the South Vietnamese Army,
eventually returned to Vietnam after about 20 years. He and everyone he
spoke to found his Vietnamese to be really archaic.
