I don't know your school, but I have no reason to doubt your view that
it's just the bee's knees.  However, the subject was the blogger that
Eli called a moron.

That person didn't go to your school.  Or he didn't read the textbook.
 (I'd not bet much if more than 10-15% of the students actually did
the readings.  And only half of them do it in much depth.)  Most
likely, this person had heard about the IWW or the Socialist Party at
some point but it just didn't stick because he didn't see it as
particularly important...

Everybody should get to decide what's important to them, but nobody
should decide that the history of radicalism isn't important enough to
know (as this blogger did) and then pontificate on it.
