hysteria? How about a rising tide of consciousness about how our
government does not serve the people, but only for-profit
corporations? How is this a bad thing?

how can you dismiss those who don't want a bill passed with horrible
Patriot Act-esque language like this:

In General- The Administrator shall--(2) ensure that persons who
produce, process, or distribute food meet their responsibility to
prevent or minimize food safety hazards related to their products.

How will they ensure these vague qualifications? Oh, right:

(c) Regulations- Not later than 1 year after the date of the enactment
of this Act, the Administrator, in consultation with the Secretary of
Agriculture and representatives of State departments of agriculture,
shall promulgate regulations to establish science-based minimum
standards for the safe production of food by food production
facilities. Such regulations shall--(3) include, with respect to
growing, harvesting, sorting, and storage operations, minimum
standards related to fertilizer use, nutrients, hygiene, packaging,
temperature controls, animal encroachment, and water;Comments


A minimum standard of fertilizer? Regulated? there's another 100
billion into the petrochemical fertililzer companies. I won't even
mention the penalties section of this horrible bill. Up to a
$1,000,000 fine, 10 years in jail, etc...


Just like the Patriot Act, this bill is written in the language that
supposedly "keeps us safe", but will be weilded against precisely
those people who are actively trying to create new models of farming
and food distribution that threaten the disgusting hegemony of
capitalist food production.
