Dear Tom,

You have pointed to the Left SRs going over to Bolsheviks after Bolsheviks
adopted their agrarian program as it is. More important was the rift among
the SRs, who made bulwark of provisional government. The rift in itself was
so significant, and attraction of Left SRs to Bolsheviks was a premium of
it. You may note that it did not take too long for the left SRs as a group
to distract themselves from Bolsheviks. Very soon the bolsheviks stood
isolated as the sole holders of the power. One may see that the support of
Left SRs did not remain crucial for the prospects of October revolution,
rather the split in SRs, which was result of pressure of poor peasantry from
below, was of crucial importance. Do you agree with me?
