Finally, for now, anyone who wants to get a quick primer on 20th Century Chinese
history on a basic level should check out Tuchman's excellent book, "Stilwell 
and 
the American Experience in China."  I was amazed at how little I really knew,
pretentiously or otherwise, about the Middle Kingdom and was constantly 
referring back to the map at the beginning of the text.  thus in referring 
to 1925-27 in that country, let's be sure we know what we're talking 
about for starters and not just mouthing little sectarian slogans from 
some "educational" we attended in the 1970s.
