First off, the fact that the CPUSA is in a group's steering committee
is not an argument against that organization being capable of
red-baiting. The CPUSA has a long history of red-baiting.
Second, the fact that groups like the ISO and the SPUSA (in the case
of the later, UfPJ membership is *very* contentious) doesn't mean that
UfPJ isn't engaging in red baiting. I can't vouch for the ISO, but the
SPUSA is only still in UfPJ because the organization is if we split,
member groups get free tabling at UfPJ events and a vote at
conventions. Without membership, you end up paying the same money to
set up tables as you'd pay in dues, but you don't get the vote. If
you're gonna pay the same money anyway, may as well be a member. The
issue is a very contentious one in the party.
