This brings up, of course, the most absent feature of Stewart's
critique...that the "financial new" "journalists" didn't have to
investigate that much...because there were plenty of people making
cogent criticisms before the economic implosion.

The American media simply chose to censor all perspectives that it did
not want to air itself.

The analogy is the whining of the Bush administration flunkies that
they actually did believe there were WMDs in Iraq, because--as one of
them said--"everybody thought so."  What they mean, of course, is that
everyone who counted thought so...because they were told to think
so...
