Schact, for a Buddhist, you take things awfully literally. Read more
Debs. The entirety of the early American Socialist movement was infused
with religious metaphors. Debs as much as anyone. The Socialist Party
itself was not a atheistic party. Plus, you assume Debs was one. I don't
believe he was.
