Re: [Marxism] Obama's timid liberalism

This is actually a good synoptic rundown of the limitations of the Obama
program as we've seen it so far, by someone who isn't even a socialist.

It pinpoints quite neatly how the Obama Gov't appears to be Herbert Hoover's
second term rather than a "new New Deal", demonstrating also that it is a
measure of the relative decline of the United States that its political
economy seems incapable of producing such a program these days, even with a
Gov't that in purely political cultural terms is more "progressive" than the
Roosevelt or Eisenhower Gov'ts. It's a telling symptom of the priority of
economy over culture, when the going gets tough.

It makes clear that there won't be any meaningful structural change - not to
mention revolution - without mass struggle from below, particularly mass
working class struggle. Though in that case it quite likely will spill over
into revolution rathern than a "new New Deal".

Obama's timid liberalism
Once, even Republican presidents like Eisenhower and Nixon believed in
the public sector. Now, during a national crisis, a Democrat opts for
inadequate, neoliberal, private-sector remedies. What happened?
