[Marxism] Immigration Factory Raids

Something pretty peculiar happened this week. There was another one of the
immigration Gestapo factory raids in Washington State. And Janet Napolitano
cried bloody murder.

That's kinda peculiar because Napolitano is Obama's fuehrer of Fatherland
Security, in other words, these were HER raiders, and she didn't know
nothing about it.

The ADDITIONAL peculiarity of it is that I follow immigration and the new
Obama administration pretty closely, not just from my political interests
and focus but also in my day job. And the place where I work is intensely
focused on immigration because of its importance to our client base.

And there had been ABSOLUTELY NOTHING from the Obamaites about stopping the
factory raids, not even a mumbling murmur.

Yet it is quite clear from Napolitano's reaction that secretly, INSIDE the
department of fatherland security the word was supposed to have been passed
down to just stop doing these raids. No publicity, no announcement, no
policy statement, no directive just the months would go by and there would
not happen to be any.

Here's how the NY Times reported it:

Secretary Seeks Review of Immigration Raid

Published: February 26, 2009
WASHINGTON ? Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano on Wednesday
ordered a review of a raid at an engine plant in Washington State that
resulted in the arrests of 28 people suspected of being illegal immigrants.

A high-level official in the Department of Homeland Security said that Ms.
Napolitano had not been informed about the raid on Tuesday before it
happened, and that she was seeking details about its planning and scope.

?She was not happy about it because it?s inconsistent with her position, and
the president?s position on these matters,? said the official, who agreed to
discuss the matter on condition of anonymity because the secretary had not
authorized the conversation.

President Obama has promised immigration enforcement that would focus less
on illegal workers and more on the employers who rely on them.

At a hearing of the House Homeland Security Committee on Wednesday,
legislators questioned Ms. Napolitano about the raid, at Yamato Engine
Specialists, which rebuilds faulty car engines. It was the first work-site
action since Ms. Napolitano took charge of the department

Advocates for the immigrants said most were awaiting deportation hearings at
a Tacoma detention center. Three were freed.

I think it's clear from the article that Obama and Napolitano want an end to
most or all factory raids.

I wouldn't be surprised --in fact, I suspect this is the case-- that word
has also been passed down to stop the community raids. These are the ones
supposedly done because they're looking for some al Qaeda mass murderer
child rapist who worked the gas ovens in Hitler's concentration camps but
wind up instead arresting working people with absolutely no criminal record
and a couple of US-born kids who simply overstayed a visa or entered the
country without one.

So it looks like we have in the Obama administration a willingness to make
concessions to the Latino community on immigration issues -- as long as no
one knows. Or perhaps it would be better stated as an administration that
wants to avoid what it sees as unnecessary provocations against the
community, though the reality is likely to be a combination of those.

Well, putting a stop to the most outrageously racist attacks of the Bush
administration is certainly welcome, but I'm wondering if there's meant to
be an implicit quid pro quo here. The administration stops the most vicious
aspects of the hounding of immigrants and the community shuts up.

As should be clear from my post about the Atlanta event today, SOMETHING
really set off the Washington-based head of the Latino evangelical pastors
association. And he was very clear about the WHAT of the matter --a demand
that the Latino evangelicals shut up about immigration-- but not the WHO
--not that there is shortage of candidates, as I explained. But of course,
in the last analysis, all these outfits, the union bureaucracy, church
hierarchs, poverticians and politicians and so on, are really just
transmission belts for the current administration, acting on behalf of the
ruling class. And that is entirely consistent with a "secret" ending of
factory raids (and perhaps also community raids, at least many of them).

What this means is that the Washington State factory raid was a conscious
and deliberate provocation by a fairly high-ranking immigration Gestapo
commander to smoke out and expose the real but unannounced policy of the
Obama administration. And considering the kind of trailer trash pond scum
racist filth likely to occupy high immigration Gestapo posts, I'm sure the
insubordination was to a significant degree inspired by the low-life's
resentment of having to follow the orders of what he would call a n***er
president and his c*nt deputy.

And this gets a bit more complicated when you start taking into account that
there has been a very sharp increase in racist hate group activity and
recruitment following Obama's election and inauguration. Some of the
comments by neighbors of the Miramar Beach killer of Chilean students
suggest the guy became more bizarre and threatening after Obama won. And
overall there's a very clear pattern, according to the Southern Poverty Law
Center, which tracks these things.

I don't have any specific or general conclusions about all this (apart from
what was in my post about the immigrant rights event here today), just that
it seems to me that US politics, at least for the moment, are somewhat more
complicated than we've been used to.
