I think the WSWS will say that Fidel got rid of the old, US-aligned,
national bourgeoisie all right (who mostly emigrated to the USA after
1959), but replaced it with a new, Soviet-aligned, national
bourgeoisie -- a sort of Cuban _nomenklatura_ .

Notably, the Cuban workers are not allowed to  form independent trade
unions, even when they are employed by a multinational company
operating in Cuba. If workers are really running the Cuban state, then
how can one explain this?

I'm not in 100% agreement with the WSWS position on this. But, as I
said, I think they raise thought-provoking questions. The full article
