[Marxism] Debunking Third World myths



Louis, what you wrote might be strictly true, but it's hardly a fair
comparison:

My guess is that the majority of Mexicans today would not want to go back to
pre-conquest times, and for very good reasons. For example, a significant
amount of leisure time in those days went into religious festivals that
included horrific human sacrifices. Modern forms of leisure such as
television aren't always very exciting, but they are far more civilized.

Regarding Nestor's view that Argentina, Singapore, South Korea, etc, are
oppressed Third World semi-colonies - there's no legitimate basis to it,
since these countries are politically independent and economically
comparable to European nations. Then again, I have heard some Europeans
complain that their nations too are oppressed and colonized - a poor excuse
for anti-American nationalism.
