[Marxism] The Left and Support For Islamic Resistance

 think this is unfair. There is little question in the Marxist  movement 
about support for "resistance" in general, to use your example, the  resistance 
in 
France during WWII. Clearly there *is* resistance or opposition to  the idea 
of support for *Islamic* resistance on the left,

Yes, there is opposition to resistance which comes with an Islamic  
integument on the left, which I obviously think is wrong. At best it's  
paternalism at 
work, at worst an unconscious cultural chauvinism. You have a  point about 
Marxists engaging with non-Marxists on this issue, but this is a  Marxism list. 
As I'm sure most have, I've had this discussion numerous times.  The thing I've 
found in common with those who balk at voicing  support for organisations 
like Hamas or Hezbollah, for  example, is that they're afraid that by doing so 
their Marxism  will somehow become dissipated, denuded in the process. On the 
other hand I  contend that our understanding of Marxism as a living science is  
strengthened.
