[Marxism] Update On Arrests

I mentioned the arrests that took place of 9 men travelling to London to
join the aid convoy to Gaza. The police are now saying that 3 of the men had
been under surveillance as part of a continuing counter-terrorism operation
and
were trying to leave the country under the cover of the convoy.

Interesting the difference in priority when it comes to Muslims and Israelis
on the part of the British police. Back in 2005, when a certain Major
General Dolon Almog arrived at Heathrow Airport on his way to attend various
Jewish
charity functions in Britain, he refused to leave the aircraft, a commercial
El-Al flight. An arrest warrant had been issued for the Israeli army officer
over his role in ordering the demolition of over 50 houses in an operation
carried out in the Gaza Strip.News of the warrant was leaked to the Israeli
Embassy in London, which then got word to Almog. The police arrived but
refused
to board the aircraft, citing security concerns. Subsequently the aircraft
was allowed to take off back to Israel with the General still on board. To
make matters worse, then British Foreign Secretary, Jack Straw, apologised to
the Israeli Government for any embarrassment caused.
