These judges are in the grand tradition of post-Reconstruction Alabama--  
when African-Americans were arrested for cash, incarcerated with the cash 
payments for the meals they never received diverted to the sheriff and 
judge, and leased to timber mills, plantations, coal mines and steel mills 
for cash.
