Re: [Marxism] Spanish
I am sorry now that I dared to request a translation of Spanish because,
notwithstanding Nestor Gorojovsky's sympathetic contributions, I feel like I
have commited some kind of dreadful faux pas by the reaction of some other
comrades. There was some Spanish languageÂdiscussion of Charles Darwin in
South America that I was particularly interested in for a range of reasons
(including a "personal bias" due the fact that he came to my own distant
provincial backwater of Hobart, Australia, and climbed Mt Wellington). I
think my error was in asking for translations generally rather than for an
explanation of the particular discussion and also because my contribution was
admittedly bit half/half between polite request and complaint (I think it was
closer to polite request).ÂÂMark Lause's contributionÂthat list members
should be familiar with Spanish from day to day exposure - well that's just
nonsense. I live in Australia not the US, and in a rather
un-cosmopolitan / Anglo part of Australia to boot. I have actually
thoughtÂabout taking Spanish lessons but I am torn between Spanish and German
because I have relatives in Austria (where my name comes from) and I already
did a year of German in high school.
Â
On the other hand, I don't think I should have to appologise for not being
literate in Spanish!
