Re: [Marxism] Inter-imperialist rivalry leads to outer space pollution

The Russian satellite was already decommissioned, the US-American one
belonged to the 64-strong fleet of Iridium communications satellites providing
wireless telephony and data services around the globe.

The network was started in the 1980ies or early 1990 by Motorola, but went
bankrupt in August 1999. The US military helped the successor company by
contracting Iridium for their world-wide communications.

Iridium issued a press release assuring their customers that the destroyed
satellite would not cut a deep hole in the Iridium network and could soon be
replaced by one of their spare in-orbit satellites.

Well, interimperialist rivalry is not yet so developed in space since the USA
would certainly have a majority of satellites orbiting around us, with Russia
coming near.

But sure, the problem is a common coordination of satellite movements,
and a solution for dealing with the growing amount of debris circling the
earth.
