Steffie lived in my neighborhood, Jackson Heights, and was indefatigable in 
helping to organize and sustain our local antiwar organization (QAC, the Queens 
Antiwar Committee) in 2002-2005. 

She somehow managed to be everywhere at once. At the same time I was working 
with her in Jackson Heights, she was also involved in UfPJ, Code Pink, al-Awda, 
and the Campus Antiwar Network. But she found time to help me with the hopeless 
but somehow necessary task of lobbying our Congressman on both the war and 
civil liberties, and helped build a highly successful anti-draft meeting in 
Jackson Heights. 

Steffie was particularly gifted at making common cause with disparate 
organizations. She didn't just talk about overcoming sectarianism; she 
genuinely walked the walk.

I used to try to push my Nicorette on her; wish I'd pushed harder. I will miss 
her greatly.
