Comrade Artesian is correct, I think, when he proposes Marx' theory as 
"over-productionist":

CB: And why is that ? Why would means of production that is exploiting 
wage-labor at a certain intensity drop off in its ability to exploit at that 
level of intensity ? The rate of exploitation is not based on variations in the 
means of production. It is based on the level of class struggle over level of 
wages.
