I don't want to join in beating this dead horse either--particularly
since Walter's positon non the elections wasn't the point--but he
actually took a position on the elections more "nuanced" than is being
presented here. He said BOTH that he supported McKinney AND that he
would vote for Obama if the outcoming in a state looked close. I'm
sure I wasn't the only one who did a mental flashback to the CP
running Browder and backing FDR or David Cobb's "safe state"
Green-but-Democratic strategy in 2004.
We all want to have our cake and eat it, too, but we shouldn't carry
our self-indulgence to where we talk out of both sides of our
mouths....
I did and do have immensely more personal respect for people who said
right out that they were voting for Obama and made a straightforward
case for doing so.
