Re: [Marxism] On Walter's expulsion (a criticism and self-criticism)

I'm an active "member" of this list, but I have to respond to this by JB:

"It is a tribute to Louis's vision, skill, dedication, patience and judgment
that this list has become such a significant political community."

"Significant"? Well, "significant" can just be a numeric measure, and by that
measure, yes, a certain significance. So too one could say my Left I on the
News blog is significant, and Louis' Unrepentant Marxist, and Richard Seymour's
Lenin's Tomb, etc.

"Significant" as in having some kind of effect or producing some result? What,
pray tell, might that be? Calling a demonstration? Starting a new party?
Getting someone elected? Anything?

I'm happy to participate in this list, because I find it intellectually
stimulating, and a good way to both pick up information I might have missed and
spread information that others might have missed, but "significant"? I'm not
sure about that.
