Re: [Marxism] Chris Hedges on Gaza media cover-up

An excellent article by Hedges, except for this:

"Hamas is an unsavory organization. It has made life miserable for many in Gaza
and carried out a series of death-squad-style executions of alleged opponents."

Here Hedges, despite his complete recognition that Israel was not only the one
who was responsible for the latest assault, and his full understanding that the
brutal seige of Gaza that has been going on long before the recent period,
claims that *Hamas*, not Israel, has "made life miserable for many in Gaza."
Then he blames Hamas for "death-squad-style executions of alleged opponents,"
without mentioning that it is these "alleged opponents", also known as
"informants," who were responsible for providing Israel with information which
lead to the "targeted assassinations" of many Hamas leaders and members. Such
an action in wartime is called treason, and subject to the death penalty in the
U.S. and other countries, and the harshest possible punishment in others. No
doubt one could (not *this* one, but one) fault Hamas for not holding formal
trials of such people and obtaining convictions prior to execution, but not to
even mention the role such people play is a gross omission.

Otherwise, good stuff.
