Indeed, Less, it's not limited to mailing lists. If you originate the
message it won't get back to you through gmail. For instance setting
yourself on the BCC field is pretty useless.

FWIW I'm of the opinion that not receiving my own mailing list messages
isn't a great tragedy, and often I set up mailman to not send it to me when
there's the option, but yes, Gmail's behaviour can be a wee bit intrusive
sometimes.
