I saw that article and appreciated it as well, having commented on it
elsewhere.
At that time I was 29 years old and was in and out of homeless shelters when
not living in my car,
(sometimes selling my plasma for gas money, another story) doing farm labor and
casual labor
before settling in on cannery work in SE Alaska. That was the context of my
"turn" from middle class
college student to the working class, something capitalism did for me, not the
product of some
kind of agonized decision of a sectarian cult. This period is skipped over by
mainstream media
commentators who jump right back to the '30s, a function in part of the
bourgoisie's sanctification
of Reagan, something liberals pander to as well. I can't think of a more
odious candidate for sainthood
than that individual, however.
