Re: [Marxism] Sick to death of Oba-mania

There is so much disinformation here that IMO it can be characterized by those
less charitable than me as deliberate dishonesty. I am not that uncharitable
sort:

1. That has always been my position on Obama. I haven't changed it, denied it,
nor
have you ever "accused" me of it.

2. Correct-- Obama represents nothing other than the same class, and class needs
as Bush: Sunbelt? OK the same SECTION produced Nixon, LBJ, Carter, Reagan,
Clinton--
not Ford of course-- guess he doesn't count. Now there are political
differences
among all those same sectionalists, but there are not substantive class
differences.
PS anybody who thinks Bush 1 was a Sunbelter needs to review the definition of
carpetbagger-- and geography-- Ct. does not exist in the sunbelt, although it's
the home of so many finance capitalists. Splits among the ruling class may
exist,
but they are inconsequential to the needs of capital as a system.

3. M. Lause invokes historical materialism as cant, as totem, all the better
to avoid actual materialist analysis about the current needs of capitalism
which would demystify his romance with the era of good feelings around Obamaism

4. No, it is no accident that so many of the presidents are from the sunbelt:
Ca.
is the most populous state in the union; Texas is...Texas; the sunbelt as a
whole
is/was the fastest growing section because of its....poverty and anti-labor
traditions.
This is not news and harks back to the defeat of Reconstruction. The North won
the war,
the South won the peace. As for the importance of the petroleum industry, I
don't know
of anybody on this list who has studied it more, who has argued about the
importance
of its rate of return more than I have-- and I say it is just that downturn in
that
rate, transmitted through all of capital that MADE Obama, that caused the
bourgeoisie
to bankroll him, that makes him the man to make the glass more than half-full,
bring
it to the brim and beyond with more blood. That is the compelling historical
materialist
explanation.

5. Have no problem with the ruby slippers; in this Ozfest Mark should understand
that his role is that of the great and powerful wizard himself. Pay no
attention to that man behind the curtain.
