That's exactly it. The guy is governor because of a complete 
fluke, or more precisely, because of Eliot Spitzer's ungovernable
Johnson (the only human thing about him, if you ask me). 

Still, Paterson is there, and he would dearly love to 
be re-elected. 

He's following a much-beaten path here -- Democratic NYC pols 
selling out to Upstate. He'll have some trekking to do, though, 
before he catches up to Sheldon Silver, who has already gotten 
over the Adirondacks and is headed for Hudson's Bay.
