I guess the problem must be with me-- because I'll be damned if
I can figure out what M. Lause proposes we, or anyone do with these
profound insights-- actually not insights but speculations-- that
take us not to Marx but actually Frederick Jackson Turner and his
postulates on the role of sectionalism in American history.

Right, nobody opposes higher wages.  M. Lause however thinks that
he actually listens to the "masses" and then turns around to reveal
that he actually thinks he thought he heard the ruling class (apologies
to REM).

I myself and others maintain and have maintained that in fact Obama
represents no different section of the ruling class or section of
the country than Bush-- that the election of Obama is significant in
that the NEEDS of that entire class have changed, given the current
economic predicament-- short,nasty version-- they elect a Repug
when they want to go into a recession, they elect a Dementocrat when
the recession is too deep and they need a way out-- the way out
being the seeking of a wider war.

So what concrete tasks are ahead of us during the Obama years or this
"upsurge" as some would call it?

1. Immediate withdrawal of US and allied military from Afghanistan
Iraq, Haiti, the Balkans.

2. Not one penny for bailouts of banks, auto industry, defense
contractors, etc.

3. Cancellation of all student loan, individual housing debt.

4. Embargo of all weapons exports from US; all aid to Israel.

5. Open the borders:  No one is illegal

I've left more than a few things out but you get the idea-- and
the idea is that the tasks, strategy, program of developing
a class struggle haven't changed in the concrete.

And I got beyond Frederick Jackson Turner my junior year in
high school when I first read Marx's Manifesto and then Trotsky's
History of the Russian Revolution (abridged-- took me awhile to
track down the complete work).
