There are people calling themselves "Neocommunists" demanding an all-out
war "against Hamas" till the end. They are not different from the bloddthirsty
fascists demanding an all-out war "against the Jews" till the bitter end. This
are mostly converts from some ultraleft stalinist-leaning currents from the
1970ies student movement.

Then there is the role of the PDL (Partei "Die Linke", or "Left Party" as it
mostly gets translated to English), where leading people () think that
supporting Israel is a "must" for German politics. I read this morning that the
chairperson of the Berlin PDL is scheduled as speaker in a pro-war rally in
Berlin. I have always said that the PDS/WASG is just another obstacle for
building a revolutionary party of the working class in Germany.

Regarding the anti-war demo in Berlin which Ivan Drury reported about,
there was a similar demonstration here in Frankfurt a week ago, on the
saturday, with reportedly 10'000 participants, mainly Arab and some Turks
judging from the presence of several Turkey flags. German participants were
practically absent from the demonstration. I came only when the concluding
rally was in its latest stages. The act ended with a prayer. The place in front
of the "Römer" was more filled than any German-initiated pacifist demo and
even the May 1st rally there.
