Well, my intention is to have a discussion, not necessarily an argument on 
these kinds of issues.  Thus Wilson's attitude towards and connections with the 
Klan I believe
illuminate such a process.  While Wilson may not have been beholdened in 
any way to the KKK for his election in 1912 (although clearly he was to 
organized
southern white racists in the Dem Party whom he pandered to), I'm not so sure 
that this is 
the case regarding his reelection in 1916.  Clearly Wilson was a rabid 
racist who held no antipathy to the Klan and had some connection with it,
something that needs to be pointed out as part of deflating the myth surrounding
this ostensibly progressive liberal demi-god.  I appreciate, however, your
concern with that political assertions have evidentiary support and not 
be part of some "belief system" or demonology.
