Why are U.S. forces in Iraq? I'm sure we all have our own opinion, here's 
Barack Obama's, in case you missed it (emphasis added):
As we celebrate this joyous time of year, our thoughts turn to the brave men 
and women who serve our country far from home. Their extraordinary and selfless 
sacrifice is an inspiration to us all, and part of the unbroken line of heroism 
that has made our freedom and prosperity possible for over two centuries.

So
there you have it. Obama laying out quite clearly his view that the
invasion of Iraq was part of ensuring the "freedom and prosperity" of
the United States. Prosperity for Halliburton and Blackwater and the
weapons manufacturers and (they had hoped) the oil companies -
definitely. Prosperity for the rest of us? How about the opposite?
"Freedom" for anyone? How about the loss of freedom for everyone except the 
President, Vice-President, and their designated torturers?
The audacity of "change we can believe in."
