Re: [Marxism] Anti-abortion homophobe to deliver invocation at inauguration, (and also re: Why Third Way politics refuses to die)

Fred: "But "this will wake up the liberals"! What a bizarre strategic objective
for revolutionaries today!"

Actually Fred quoted me wrong, it wasn't "this will", it was "will this?" as a
question, with the answer provided: "Probably not." In any case, however,
asking a question is hardly the same as stating a "strategic objective."

Fred: "my support for McKinney and Clemente was based on a strategy of reaching
toward and seeking a base for real fundamental needed change among the
oppressed and exploited, and especially among the working class -- particularly
the oppressed peoples, women workers, immigrants, and the young."

I certainly agree completely with that strategy, however, by counterposing it
to the mention of "liberals," Fred seems to be assuming that those are two
distinct descriptions. But "the working class - particularly oppressed peoples,
women workers, immigrants, and the young" *includes* liberals, as well as
moderates and reactionaries. Of those, which are most likely to form the "base
for real fundamental needed change" - the reactionary prowar homophobes, or the
more liberal antiwar pro-gay (etc.) members? To ask the question is to answer
it.
