What a mentality--to identify a country with the politicians who
happen to be governing it! Like the opening of King Lear where
Cordelia's suitors are named only "France" and "Burgundy." When Bush
and Obama say that the US in Iraq and Afghanistan is doing and will be
doing only what it feels it must to defend itself, and they personally
*do* "feel" that, have they justified anything at all?

(By the way, David's armament was so superior to that of Goliath that
the result of single combat was a foregone conclusion. The stupidity
of the analogy well suits the argument defended with it.)
