Chu's very interesting guy and all that, but the MAIN thing the "Department
of Energy" does is make nuclear bombs.
Used to be called the Atomic Energy Commission, and before that, the
Manhattan Engineer District, a.k.a Manhattan Project.
A world class physicist, of course, would be an asset to such a department.
