...Smart Union Group Holdings Ltd. said it filed for bankruptcy and move to
liquidate the company...

...The company's statement didn't say what prompted its move for
liquidation, but Chinese media agencies suggested the move stemmed from a
slowdown in consumer consumption in the US and Europe..

...the company Friday shutter two factories it operated in Dongguan city in
the..Guandong, triggering any angry protest by some 6500 workers over unpaid
wages. Xinhua news agency said the workers haven't been paid since
August...

According to the [China General Administration of] Customs report, a total
of 3631 toy exporters or 53% shut down in 2008, leaving 3507 toy exporters
in business. They were mainly small-sized toy producers with an export
values of less than $100,000....
