Re: [Marxism] The Life and Times of Genora Dollinger-The Labor Party Experience

As an open-communist member of the fledgling Labor Party Advocates in Los
Angeles I was invited to a dinner with Sol and Genora Dollinger in '94. Their
home was in the area close to LA High School where I began my teaching career
in 1978. The area was now predominently black, a 'middle-class' neighborhood
of one and two-story single family dwellings. I was hosted with graciousness
and spent a pleasant evening. Obviously, we discussed the Labor Party, with
Sol Dollinger siding with the aims and outlook of the predominant unionist
faction.

Then I went back to trying to help organize a left column in the Labor Party.
We eventually formed the LA Inner City Local Organizing Committe and formed a
left-wing 'chapter' of the Labor Party meeting in a small union's (AFSCME 1108
with the blessing of the great Fernado Gapasin, Sec-Treasurer). The chapter
was eventually ordered to disband and the last fighting chance in LA for a
Labor Party was disowned by a gang of bureaucrats led by the Sec Treasurer of
PACE (nee Oil, Chemical, Atomic Workers Union) Dave Campbell and his wife,
Kathleen O'Nan.

The Labor Party had purged its most active, most dedicated cadre. Where is the
Labor Party now?
