Keep in mind that the Electoral College has the constitutional right to vote
as it pleases. If the Republican leadership nominated Palin to replace
McCain before the electoral college meets, I don't rule out that a split
could develop among McCain electors. Very rare event, but some might see it
as an emergency of sorts.

Anyway, I see McCain lasting a while.
