my mistake, i saw the quote characters and assumed the text was copied 
from before. apologies to David.

so let me change the warning to a suggestion: if you cut and paste an 
article into your message buffer, be sure quote characters ('>') are not 
included, as it makes it unclear if you are sending something new to the 
list or you carelessly hit reply. some of us do not have time to parse 
through such messages to see whats new. proper formatting helps to hold 
attention.
