Re: [Marxism] Anti-foreclosure action in SF
Great stuff, Eli and exactly the way to go. By way of contrast I have just
read this in the Guardian on Obama:
"As 250 major donors ate beet salad and mahi-mahi under a huge tent, Obama
seemed to look ahead to his first term as president.
"We're going to have to make some priorities, we're going to have to cut
some things out," he said, referring to expensive goals such as improving
health care, schools and college affordability."
That he shouold already be playing the "lowering expectations game" at this
stage says a lot both for his chances of getting elected and for the low
levels of the political consciousness of his audience.
However even if his presidency is a done deal, it is by no means a sure
thing that he will not have a fight on his hands, as he leads the attacks on
the working class. The class will resist and it is heartening that the
Left are aready pointing the way, both in terms of propaganda and direct
action.
Here in Oztralia, Prime Minister Rudd is singing the same tune as Lula -
"our banks are the good banks" & "our bankers are bankers not banksters".
Still there is a strange quietus that has taken hold of oveyone. People's
retirement funds have been wiped out (Tell me about it!), but there doesn't
seem to be any overt reaction yet.
It's the calm before the storm of course and we really need to do something.
Perhaps Tom O' Lincoln could get a speaking tour by Rick Kuhn organised or
at least get something about the crisis up on youtube. I don't think Tom
reads my posts but if someone knows how to contact him directly please
bounce this to him.
I will do all I can to help. Now's not the time for sectarianism!
regards
Gary
