Re: [Marxism] Gloria La Riva 16-city speaking tour

What constitutes "historical justification" is, of course, debatable, but
it strikes me as pointless for gaggles of unaffiliated individuals to take
up as much time and space as some do in denouncing the efforts of groupings
who are attempting, in an organized manner, to get the message of socialism
out to a broader public. Time and experience, and, above all, the rise of a
genuine mass working class movement, should sort these things out in the end.

There is no mass working class opposition movement here in the United States
of America, from which I'm writing. As yet, we don't see mass anti-capitalist
activity organized politically in the other so-called "advanced" capitalist
countries from which most participants here are writing. Maybe the French LCR
will get somewhere. Perhaps the Dutch Socialist Party will find a way. Time
will tell.

We're at a time of immense frustration out there among the public as we see
people desperately looking for solutions. Sometimes I listen to talk shows
on an NPR affiliate locally, and I notice that many of the programs are all
about individuals worried about where their 401K investments are going, if
they are going anywhere at all. Mostly they are tanking. Some individuals
speak proudly of their good fortune getting out of the market "in time",
and so on. It's amazing to see so many thinking in strictly individual and
individualistic terms. Until they can begin to think socially and to act
in a broader way, we won't be seeing much progress, that's for sure.
