[Marxism] LTV comment in reader responses to Krugman's op-ed

"There will be no political coherence until economists find a way to
return to a labor theory of value. Alfred Marshall was a fine man. But
until our ridiculous, narrow, self-rationalizing economists find a way
to update the labor theory of value shared by Adam Smith, Locke, Mill,
and Marx we will never get out of this swamp. Economists in
universities share the blame here. They are not scientists. They made
a devil's bargain the minute they abandoned a labor theory of value.
Even liberal icons like Krugman are guilty of this, of not thinking
widely enough. Things are not as complicated as economists make them
seem. I would like to see a different paradigm not based on "the
market" or "the economy" but on happiness, simple human happiness. Is
that so ridiculous? What exactly is the logic that has been pressed
upon us by our politicians and economists? To be dogmatic: Labor
theory of value! Labor theory of value! If you don't know what I am
talking about, please do some more reading.

— Nelson Alexander, New York City"
