[Marxism] McCain-Palin on zig-zag course as defeat threatens.
Fred Feldman
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well, it is looking pretty grim for McCain -- much more promising, in
the
longer term, for the 'populist'-far right demagogue Sarah Palin.
In Pennsylvania, for instance, polls now show Obama 12 points ahead.
Columnist David Brooks, one of the NYTimes' conservative Republican
columnists predicted at a public meeting that Obama would win by 9
points.
In today's late web edition of the Guardian, David Gergen a former
White
House adviser in the Nixon, Ford, Reagan, and Clinton administrations
presses a single ray of hope: the white vote against a Black president:
http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2008/oct/09/uselections2008.johnmccain2
"The issue of race is still rearing its head in this campaign and we
don't
know how that it is going to play out. This has been such a volatile
campaign and the issue of race has been so unresolved that I don't
think you
can say with any confidence Obama is going to win. The Obama people are
not
acting as if they are confident ..."
Palin rallied the base at a rally in Florida numbering between 25,000
and
60,000, at which there were racist incidents and a call or calls to
kill
Obama. Palin did nothing to discourage this. (On the contrary, to some
extent. Clearly there are wannabe terrorists TODAY that Palin sees no
problem in "palling around with.")
^^^
CB: On television, I also heard Gergen say that Palin must speak-out
against the fascistic mob talk.
Interesting the Gergen is telling it like it is about appeal to racism
being the great white hope, here.
The Reaganite right is in crisis , for sure.
