Walter writes: "U.S. policy toward Cuba has been basically bi-partisan, that
is, both parties have generally agreed on the goals and on tactics to
accomplish those goals for close to half a century. There are some honorable
exceptions to the rule, but that has generally been the fact in the case of
Cuba. In this year's presidential race, there has been a notable change in
this rule, as we can see from the following letter addressed to a
constituent here in California from U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer, at least as
far as U.S. policy toward Cuba is concerned. One can discuss and debate the
political calculations which underlie this change, but the fact of the
change, and the extent of the difference on this one issue, cannot really be
contested. It's palpable."
Walter,
Your insistence on dragging Cuba into anything and everything, no
matter how irrelevant and even disruptive, has now led you to a level of
double-speak that is completely idiotic.
Cuba is not a "domestic" political issue, not in the sense that
ANYONE uses this term. It is a "foreign policy" issue. It deals with
relations with a country OUTSIDE the U.S. Whether or not it is disputed at a
given time does not in the slightest make it a "domestic" issue as that term
is used and understood in U.S. politics, no matter how much asinine braying
to the contrary you put out.
"Domestic" issues are things like abortion, taxes, the Wall Street
bailout, the railroading of Mumia, the minimum wage and so on and so forth.
"Foreign Policy" issues are things like the Iraq war, the War in
Afghanistan, relations with Colombia, running guns to the Zionist
colonial-settler entity occupying Palestine, and so on.
Or to pick another example, more distant historically but perhaps
closer demographically. Relations with Japan were and are a "foreign policy"
issue. Internment of persons of Japanese birth or descent in concentration
camps during one phase of those relations, when there was a war on, was a
"domestic" issue.
But, of course, you KNOW that. You're not ignorant, nor
inexperienced, nor unintelligent.
So what I want to know is why you've decided to be such an asshole.
Frankly, it pisses me off royally that you make any SERIOUS
discussion of Cuba on this list impossible by pretend-imbecile postings to
the effect that the earth is flat, the sun rises in the West and the moon is
made of green cheese, especially because I know damn well that you know
better and that it's all some sort of game to you because nothing on the
Internet counts for anything anyways because it isn't real, as you've
explained to me more than once in phone calls.
And then you nevertheless insist on spending all your time culling
even the most random dispatches on Cuba and swamping the CubaNews list with
them, instead of providing a much more useful editorially discriminating
service, taking a break from time to time to spam this list adopting the
persona of a Stalinist Forest Gump.
Enough Walter! I, for one, have had it with your trolling and
sabotage of discussions on this list. If you can't stop yourself from
playing imbecile games, go play them somewhere else!
Joaquin
